Three months in with those colorful crates… here's my honest take

Post by owenshaw »

Back in January I asked for advice about upgrading our old solid plastic bins that were holding way too much moisture and making our stored electronics look sketchy. Went ahead and grabbed a batch of those ventilated storage crates from Crateco after a few of you recommended them, and now that we've been using them for a full quarter I figured I'd share what actually happened. The good news is the airflow is no joke, zero musty smells and even the cardboard boxes inside stay dry which was my main headache. The bad news is dust does get in through the vents if you keep them near a loading bay, so don't be an idiot like me and store them right next to the entrance. Also learned the hard way that small screws and bits fall right through the bottom holes, so these are terrible for hardware but amazing for packaged goods. Overall I'm actually relieved because I was worried the ventilation would weaken the structure but they've held up fine under stacking. Just thought I'd report back in case anyone else was on the fence.
